Committee Chairman of Jogja Java Carnival 2010 Haryadi Suyuti holds his optimism that the 2010 JJC will be much merrier that the previous two ones. “We are positive that the celebration of Yogyakarta birthday of this year in Jogja Java Carnival will be merrier because there will be 1,000 participants in the event. They will perform in floating vehicle ornamented with lamps and supported by good sound system,” Haryadi said at the City Hall, Tuesday (9/21). Bringing in the theme ‘Harmonight’, an acronym for harmony night, the event is held as a tag of Yogyakarta birthday and is hoped to be able to present two different things combined, namely culture and performance. They can, perhaps, participate in setting the China paper lanterns in 45 Sub-districts. The event will also be jazzed up by inter-subdistrict art festival,” Haryadi added on behalf Yogyakarta Mayor. Creative Team Chairperson of JJC 2010 Altianto stated that the event costs Yogyakarta APBD (Regional Revenues and Expenditures Budget) 2 billion rupiahs. There will be art and cultural performances in which some of them convey the message for environmental concern. “In this event, there will be a globe portraying the theme of environmental concern to encourage people awareness on global warming. The floating vehicles will be decorated in golong gilig theme, not to mention, there will be art and cultural performances portraying that Yogyakarta is a city open for diversity,” said Haryadi.
